Sustainable Rural Residential Community

The Peri-Urban space varies in nature and description from locality to locality and from State to State within Australia. Globally the range of uses, misuses and issues relating to the peri-urban space is a key contributor to the ever increasing negative impact humanity is having on the planet.

Self-Sustaining Rural Residential Community design is one way to address a number of the key problems encountered in per-urban spaces here in Australia. (refer to About Us).

Periurban Property has completed a master-planned community on the outskirts of Brisbane which required a highly innovative solution, with approvals to be attained at both the State and Local Government levels. (Most of our current projects only require approvals at the Local Government level!)

The solution incorporated:

  • Residential lifestyle lots set in rural and lakeside settings
  • Conference and wedding centre with short term accommodation
  • Local farmers and craft market
  • Village square with retail, health and commercial/serviced office facilities
  • Community food gardens and orchards and commercial scale hydroponics and aquaponics
  • Provision of centralised sewerage treatment with high grade water recycling
  • Provision of a modified potable water solution
  • Solar farm and energy storage solution and independent and innovative high speed internet and communications solutions
  • Koala habitat corridor and bird lake and wetlands habitat all protected under a covenant agreement with the State (over 65% of the property will be protected under this agreement)
  • Extensive natural habitat rehabilitation and expansion

Current Self-Sustaining Community Projects

We are working with a number of land owners along the Queensland coast to design and achieve approvals for several exciting, large scale self-sustaining communities. The design principles dictate that each community created will be quite different due to local and regional variances. Visit our “News” page from time to time to keep track of the projects as they progress.
